FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE – OCTOBER, 2005

TEXAS DAYTRIPPER - FIRST HILL COUNTRY BACK ROADS AUDIO TOUR CD

A weekend vacation of adventure doesn’t have to take you any farther than your own back yard.  In this case, we’re talking about the Texas Hill Country.

Carol A. King and Jimmie Randall of Austin have decided to take their passion for back roads exploration to the masses with the production of the “Texas Daytripper” Audio Tour CD’s.  Just start your vehicle, pop in the CD's, and GO!  Whether you are a seasoned back roads explorer, or new to the adventure, it can bring the roads alive to hear the history, legends, and/or tall tales about what you're seeing along the way. The Audio Tours are great for a family getaway, solitary exploration, romantic weekend, as a gift, or for entertaining out-of-town guests!

“I’ve combed the back roads for years, just as a hobby.” Carol King says.  “I wanted to learn about the history AND the oddball and unusual things and I couldn’t find a good guide for that information.”

Using her own money and experiences, King, owner of Texas Daytripper, has published the first two Audio Tour CD’s titled “Blanco River Tour” and “Fredericksburg, Comfort, and A Railroad”.  The CD’s guide the traveler through small towns in the Hill Country, exploring the back roads in between.   They are beginning to work on a third CD titled “Austin Off The Wall – Volume I” which will include unique murals, funky yard art, and other Austin-flavored creativity.

Each audio CD package includes 2 CD’s and a colorful booklet with detailed maps using track numbers that relate to the tracks on the CD’s.   The audio guides the explorer on a one or two-day trip to sites of interest in the Texas Hill Country.  It includes historical information, humorous tidbits, and personality pieces gleaned from oral histories.

“We want people to get on the back roads and have the fun we’re having, to make the discoveries we’ve made.  The audios do include information about the towns, but they are just as much about the families and fence posts along the way.  We wanted to share our secret for escaping from the stresses of the daily work life.” says King, a native of New Mexico who has lived in San Antonio for 22 years and Austin for the past 6 years.   When she’s not exploring back roads, King devotes the rest of her time to the “Custom Homebuilders’ Solutions” accounting software that she has single-handedly developed and sold to hundreds of builders across the country.

King adds that having Jimmie Randall, a Dallas native and current Austin resident, as a partner in this audio production has been a real plus.   His musical background as the bass player for the popular 70’s rock band, “Jo Jo Gunne”, and current member of a new band, “The Dead Pyrates Society”, has provided connections to talented Austin musicians.  They have contributed to the background music and sound effects that compliment the voice tracks.

The retail price of the Audio CD’s is $24.95 and can be ordered by contacting Texas Daytripper at 512-693-4103, or 512-693-2632.    You can also email kingcarol@msn.com or jas_randall@sbcglobal.net.  Also, watch for them to be sold in area bookstores, bed and breakfasts, and local shops.  The web site is www.texasdaytripper.com for more information.
